About the Role:

Wiltshire Police are looking for an experienced criminal intelligence analyst to be part of a team dedicated to a serious and complex crime investigation on a 12-month fixed term contract working from Calne Police Station.


The role will require you to be proficient in the analysis and interpretation of intelligence, crime data and evidence to assist in the identification of crime patterns, threat, harm, and risk. The role will also include responsibility for operational and evidential analysis, the collation and presentation of data, providing advice to the SIO and maintaining an up to date knowledge of developments within the discipline of intelligence analysis.


Successful applicants may be required to engage with key stakeholders so must demonstrate proficiency in collaborative working. You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management, meticulous attention to detail in relation to investigations, and in the production of documents and reports.


This is a key role within a team investigating incidents which have a profound and lasting impact on members of the public and their families. Applicants must be able to demonstrate exceptional standards of professionalism, respect, and empathy.


Successful applicants will be given a dedicated role within the investigation and will not be required to fulfil other analytical responsibilities across the Force.


In this role, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Producing tactical analytical product to assist the SIO with investigative decision making.
  • Presenting information in a range of formats, including chart and written form to provide an accurate insight into criminal activity.
  • The collation and presentation of large amounts of analytical data in an easily understood format to identify gaps and inform new lines of enquiry.
  • Compiling detailed written reports and statements of evidence.
  • Undertaking actions as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer or Case Manager.
  • Updating manual and computer records where required for the purposes of the investigation.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:


  • Degree level (with or without honours) or equivalent level experience in the field of analysis is essential.
  • You must be computer literate with experience of updating both manual and computer records.
  • You should have experience of liaising with a range of departments, agencies, and organisations.
  • You must hold a full and current driving licence.
  • Previous experience of working within a Major Crime environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working on the HOLMES operating system is also beneficial.
