Welcome to Motel

Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s, where our founders, Will and Andy, travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale, which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there, they began designing reworked vintage pieces, and thus, Motel was born.

Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We’re still ambitious and independent, but now we’re a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.

The Role

Own the end-to-end health of our applications ecosystem—ERP (NetSuite), Integration

services and connected third-party platforms. You’ll govern transactional data quality, lead integration strategy and operations, and manage external tech partners and app vendors to deliver reliable, scalable, and audit-ready flows across order, inventory, finance, and fulfilment.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Set the roadmap for apps and integrations across Shopify ERP 3rd-party tools (WMS/3PL, returns, payments, marketplaces, PIM, forecasting, BI).
  • Translate business objectives into functional backlogs and data contracts; prioritising value and risk.
  • Select, contract, and govern third-party tech partners (agencies, iPaaS, app vendors).
  • Define SLAs/SLOs, escalation paths, and QBRs; track delivery against scope,
  • timelines, and budget.
  • Drive partner performance, negotiate renewals, and coordinate joint release calendars.
  • Administer and enhance middleware and native APIs/webhooks.
  • Design resilient flows with idempotency, retries, and alerting; own runbooks and on-call triage.
  • Reduce latency from Shopify → ERP; eliminate duplicates/orphans across orders, shipments, invoices, and refunds.
  • Safeguard order-to-cash and procure-to-pay posting integrity (fees, taxes/VAT, FX, gift cards, deferred revenue).
  • Ensure stock integrity across ATP, transfers, assemblies/CMT → finished goods, landed cost allocation.
  • Own daily reconciliations: Shopify payouts, tax, payment provider fees, WMS vs ERP inventory.
  • Define item/vendor/customer master standards; variants, bundles/kits/BOMs, barcodes.
  • Enforce RBAC, approvals, data dictionaries, and retention policies; steward GDPR and vendor risk reviews.
  • Run sandbox testing, regression suites, and CAB approvals for app/config changes and new connectors.
  • Plan cutovers and rollback strategies; coordinate blackout windows for peak trading.
  • Build near-real-time health dashboards (flow success, latency, exception reasons).
  • Publish daily/weekly exception lists; coach teams to self-serve with playbooks and training.
  • Implement agile rituals, incident post-mortems, and continuous improvement cycles.
  • Support Motel on it's sustainability journey, escalating ideas and encouraging means of improvement.
  • This list is not exhaustive and other duties may be required, according to the needs of the business

About You

  • 6–10+ years across ERP/E-Commerce intgrations or applications management in retail
  • Deep working knowledge of NetSuite (transactions, items/BOM, inventory, accounting) and Shopify/Shopify Plus (orders, payments, refunds, webhooks).
  • Hands-on with iPaaS (Patchworks), REST/GraphQL APIs, JSON payloads and queues.
  • Proven vendor management (RFPs, SOWs, SLAs, QBRs) and budget ownership.
  • Strong grasp of order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, landed cost, VAT, and revenue recognition.
  • SQL proficiency; comfortable reading logs/payloads and building lightweight transforms.
  • Excellent communicator who translates technical detail into business outcomes; calm in live-ops and controls and monitors 3 rd party performance.
  • Experience with BI tooling (Looker/Power BI) and Git-based change control for data assets would be desirable.
  • Security/compliance familiarity (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and GDPR DPIAs/vendor risk would be desirable.

What's in it for you?

  • Competitive salary in line with industry benchmarking
  • 3% pension contributions from Motel; dependant on 5% pension contributions from yourself
  • 25 days annual leave; with additional days for long service
  • Birthday day off post probation

  • Monthly well-being activities to support your health and wellbeing
  • Tailored progression pathways
  • A thorough health support service
  • Access to professional support & mentoring
