At Grandir UK, we are seeking an Infrastructure & Support Engineer to provide hands-on technical support across our network of childcare nurseries. This role is vital to ensure our sites remain operational, secure, and up to date with the latest technology.

This is a field based role with regular onsite visits across our nurseries, alongside the opportunity to work from home and within our support office.

What you will be doing

  • Responding to onsite technical issues including network outages, hardware failures, and connectivity problems.
  • Installing and upgrading networking equipment, computers, and connectivity services, across our nursery sites.
  • Auditing IT infrastructure at each location and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Supporting proactive initiatives such as site refreshes, hardware lifecycle management, and technology rollouts.
  • Collaborating with the Service Desk Team Leader to ensure seamless handoff between remote and onsite support.
  • Maintaining and updating our internal documentation platform.
  • Liaising with technology partners, nursery managers and staff, to ensure minimal disruption during support visits.
  • Ensuring compliance with cyber security best-practices and safeguarding policies.
  • Supporting onboarding of new nurseries, technologies, and suppliers.

What we are looking for

You’ll have a strong background in hands-on IT support, with experience in networking, hardware troubleshooting, and site-based service delivery. You’ll be comfortable working independently, managing your own schedule, and communicating clearly with non-technical staff. A proactive mindset and attention to detail are essential, along with a passion for improving user experience and infrastructure reliability.

Essential qualifications & skills

  • Proven experience in field-based IT support or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles (Wi-Fi, switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across hardware and software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a dynamic workload across multiple sites.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation.
  • Full UK driving license, own vehicle and willingness to travel.
  • Excellent workload and time-management skills.
  • Able to successfully pass an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable qualifications & skills

  • Experience supporting multi-site organisations.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools and service desk processes.
  • Project delivery experience (e.g. site refreshes, hardware rollouts).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCP).
  • Experience in childcare, education, or similar regulated environments.
