Description

As a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Lead, you will provide technical pragmatic HSEQ advice and guidance to the operational team on all aspects of work delivered through our contracts. This role reports to the Head of HSEQ and will be responsible for managing a team of Advisors and or Co-Ordinator’s, communicating and embedding Group HSEQ systems, processes, initiatives within the contract.

Your role will entail advancing compliance against regulatory and standards within the contracts to provide assurance risks are adequately controlled. You will display leadership qualities and establish the benchmark we anticipate everyone to adhere to. Effective interaction with clients, operational teams will be pivotal, ensuring alignment with (HSEQ) objectives, regulations, and standards across all contract activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assurance to the contract leadership team and client, that Network Plus and their contract partners are undertaking works in-line with HSEQ contractual and legal requirements and risks are adequately controlled. You will develop a robust monitoring and L1 assurance programme across the contract.
  • Proactively analyse data to identify performance trends and provide early intervention as required.
  • Ensure contract leaders have oversight of robust monitoring against objectives and performance indicators with continual improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and develop a team of Advisors, offering guidance, support and coaching as needed to advance their professional development and enhance their skills.
  • Ensure contract HSEQ procedures meet corporate standards and client requirements, incorporates risk controls, and are fully embedded within the contract operations.
  • Develop and embed HSEQ plans detailing contractual requirements and arrangements to meet corporate HSEQ standards. Plans will be robust and deliver initiatives to meet HSEQ targets and objectives.
  • Ensure contract HSEQ risks are adequately profiled and robust controls identified.
  • Lead high-potential or high-severity HSEQ incidents, assigning responsibilities to an agreed investigation team. Oversee the completion of incident reports and ensure the closure of remedial actions.
  • Implement local arrangements within the contract to meet the incident management process to ensure compliance, enhance existing resources and tools, and establish effective weekly monitoring and escalations.
  • You will ensure minimum HSEQ training and competency requirements are set and assure the contract achieves compliance.
  • Monitor Health Surveillance and Fit to Work to assure the contract legal compliance is achieved and risk controls are effective.
  • Establish robust criteria to ensure effective contractor and supplier control for the contract.
  • Lead in the development and delivery of monthly briefings and campaigns.
  • Approve all safety content for HSEQ communications on the contract including reports, training, standdowns, safety alerts and toolbox talks produced by the local Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Advisors.
  • You will assist with accreditations and provide support where required, with standards, including but not limited to ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO14001, Achillies etc.
  • Define HSEQ reporting and governance requirements within the HSEQ plan and ensure monitoring and adherence to this.
  • Assist in the mobilisation of new contracts by providing the mobilisation team with comprehensive planning arrangements to identify and embed all HSEQ requirements to ensure a smooth transition and successful implementation.
  • Formulate roadmaps and support development of strategic plans to addrsess key risk areas or promote best practices, aligning with the company's values of continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Leads, members of the leadership team, and other stakeholders to achieve organisational goals and promote a culture of health and safety excellence.
  • You will develop and sustain strong relationships with clients, fostering open communication and collaboration to ensure mutual satisfaction and the achievement of shared objectives.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Occupational Health and Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the interpretation and application of HSE legislation within a high-risk operation
  • Substantial working knowledge and application of the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM)
  • Demonstratable experience of leading significant HSEQ incident investigations and establishing Root Cause Analysis supported by formal training
  • Substantial working knowledge and the application of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 into operational standards and arrangements.
  • Demonstratable experience of implementing robust level 1 assurance programme and undertaking audits.
  • Willingness to travel with full UK Driving License

  • Registered member of a Chartered Institute

  • Environment Qualification
  • Internal Auditor qualification
