Home Safety Specialist - Hazards

Red Kite Community Housing

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: High Wycombe
Salary: £61,000 per year
Contract type: Full time

As a Home Safety Specialist – Hazards, you will lead on fire safety and asbestos compliance across our housing stock, working closely with the Home Safety Manager to set performance targets and ensure successful delivery of outcomes. This includes developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures, while providing expert technical advice in line with key legislation such as The Fire Safety Act, HSG264 and Duty to Manage. You will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of safety compliance programmes, from planning and procurement through to monitoring and reporting.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You’ll work closely with internal teams and residents to co-design and deliver safety works that meet their needs and expectations. You will also manage consultants and contractors, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. In addition, you’ll support other areas of compliance, including gas, electrical, water hygiene, and lift servicing, contributing to an integrated approach to home safety. Your duties will also involve preparing feasibility studies, tenders and budgets, maintaining accurate records and taking corrective action where performance is lacking.

This role requires participation in the on-call rota to provide emergency support, acting as Red Kite’s on-site representative during incidents such as fires or floods. You’ll be expected to stay informed of sector trends and emerging risks, using this knowledge to influence best practice across the organisation. You will lead by example, demonstrating Red Kite’s values, maintaining a high standard of professionalism, and remaining solutions-focused and adaptable in high-pressure situations. In return, you’ll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team with access to flexible working, development opportunities and the chance to make a real difference to thousands of lives.
