An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Alder Hey's neurosciences therapy team for an experienced physiotherapist with an interest in Oncology and Neurosciences.
The neurosciences therapy team at Alder Hey is made up of subspecialities including neuromuscle, acute neurology and neurosurgery, oncology and tone management.
The successful candidate to this post will work mainly within the Oncology team, but will have the opportunity to work with and support the wider neurosciences service.
We are a large integrated therapy team with experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists, rotational therapists and therapy assistants working across acute and outpatient services. We offer regular in-service training and peer supervision,
We welcome applications from experienced physiotherapists with a keen interest in the clinical speciality.
We currently have more than 4,000 staff working across our community and hospital sites. We’re also a teaching and training hospital providing education and training to around 540 medical and over 500 nursing and allied health professional students each year.

- To work with the existing Neuromuscular therapy team to assess, treat and plan the ongoing management of outpatients and inpatient of the North West Regional Neuromuscular Service integrating with the whole multidisciplinary team.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner managing a large caseload of complex oncology patients as required by the service.
- To work across the neurosciences teams as needed to support the wider team objectives to provide high quality physiotherapy services to children under the neurosciences service.
- To work with the neuromuscular research team, as a clinical evaluator in large multicentre commercial studies as well as participation in academic studies and national audit.
- To help develop the service, undertaking appropriate audits and service reviews and to be responsible for the supervision of junior staff, students and therapy support staff.
- To provide a range of specialist individualised therapeutic interventions, supporting children through provision of highly specialist advanced clinical reasoning, to provide formulate and deliver individual treatment plans.
