Position:

Due to internal staff development and organisational growth, we are looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work alongside our young people.

Core Purpose:

  • To provide learning activities for students under the professional direction and supervision of a qualified teacher
  • To plan, prepare and deliver learning activities and assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment

Duties:

  • To deliver learning planned by the hub teacher when covering their absence in order to provide consistent management approaches for students
  • To monitor and evaluate student responses to activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against pre-determined objectives
  • To provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on student achievement, progress and other matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence
  • To be responsible for recording progress and achievement in activities systematically and providing evidence of range and level of progress and attainment
  • To promote student empowerment in line with foundation policies and help keep students focussed on their experience
  • To support the role of parents in students' experience and contribute to/lead meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on student progress/achievement etc.
  • To establish positive and productive working relationships with students across the foundation, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students, ensuring access to learning and content through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources

Requirements:

Applicants will be able to;

  • demonstrate an empathy and commitment to supporting young people with special educational needs
  • possess previous experience of teaching/supporting learning
  • hold a Level 2 qualification in both maths and English or be willing to work towards these qualifications
  • hold or be prepared to work towards a Teaching Assistant qualification
  • hold a current, clean UK driving licence and be willing to drive on behalf of the Foundation
