Job: HGV Collection/Delivery Driver and Garage Hand

Contract: Permanent

Based: Maidstone, Kent

Salary: £13 ph - £15 ph

Hours: 30 hours a week

Channel Commercials PLC is a leading commercial vehicle dealer providing sales, parts and servicing for DAF Trucks in the South-East. An opportunity has arisen in our Maidstone Workshop for a HGV Collection/Delivery Driver and Garage Hand.

The role will support the workshop in collecting and delivering company and customer vehicles, maintaining a clean environment and cleaning vehicles ready for supply to our customers.

Key responsibilities include:-

• Collecting/delivering company and customer Heavy Goods and commercial vehicles and vans
• Driving to collect parts
• Liaising with visitors, customers and staff to ensure safe parking is adhered to at all times
• Providing guidance on relocation of vehicles as necessary
• Maximising use of yard space in accordance with site parking rules
• Ensuring vehicles parked on site are not restricting access at any time
• Manoeuvring vehicles in and out of the workshop in a timely manner to ensure they are available for the Technicians to work on.
• Ensuring yard and recycling areas are kept clean and tidy
• Pressure washing including underneath vehicles
• Preparing vehicles for MOT – washing etc.
• Maintaining clean offices/workshop – sweeping, emptying bins etc.
• Interpretation of COSHH data sheets for cleaning products/chemicals etc.
  
  

Essential Qualities include:-

• Current driving licence with category C and CE
• Previous experience of driving HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Experience of dealing with customers
• Self-disciplined
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to use own initiative and work alone without supervision
• Team Player
• Literacy skills
• Ability to prioritise
• Communication skills (written and face to face)
  
  

Desirable Qualities include:-

• Previous experience of a Garage Hand role
• Previous experience of using cleaning chemicals/products
  
  

Please note this role requires manual handling and manoeuvring in, around and under Heavy Goods Vehicles.
