Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator
Buckingham

Health & Safety. For some, it's a box-ticking exercise. For others, it's about genuinely making sure people go home with the same number of fingers and toes they arrived with.

If you fall into the second camp, keep reading.

We're a manufacturing business (the proper kind, with machinery that can take your arm off if you're not careful), and we need someone who can help us keep people safe, stay compliant, and push things forward rather than just dust off last year's risk assessments.

This isn't a role where you'll be hidden away behind a spreadsheet. You'll be walking the floor, talking to engineers, delivering toolbox talks, and nudging managers to do the right thing. You'll also help us stay in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, so if acronyms don't scare you, that's a good start.

What you'll actually be doing (in human terms):

  • Keeping our HSE systems up to date and actually useful.
  • Supporting risk assessments so they don't just gather dust in a folder.
  • Investigating the occasional incident (we'd prefer they stayed 'near misses', though).
  • Delivering inductions and toolbox talks that don't send people to sleep.
  • Checking we're following the rules - PPE, safe systems, all that good stuff.
  • Keeping the paperwork tidy for audits (internal and external).
  • Getting involved in our environmental efforts - energy, waste, recycling.

What we're looking for:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or working towards it).
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering would help - because this isn't an office-only gig.
  • Someone who's confident enough to deliver training but approachable enough that people actually listen.
  • Good with detail, but not paralysed by it.
  • Able to use Word, Excel and Outlook without swearing at the screen (too much).

What you'll get:

  • Salary that reflects your experience.
  • The usual benefits (healthcare, pension, early finish on Fridays - yes, really).
  • A role where you'll be seen, not buried.

If you've got the certificate, a bit of experience, and a genuine interest in making health, safety and environmental stuff matter, this could be a good move.
