What is the role we are looking for?
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Health & Safety Advisor to provide vital hands-on support and help build upon the success of the existing Health and Safety Department.
Working alongside a team of H&S Advisors you will be responsible for providing professional and comprehensive H&S advice whilst ensuring compliance with current legislation and Company Policy. This role covers branches throughout the South and South West of England encompassing Surrey, West Sussex, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Jersey, Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Avon, Glamorgan, South Wales and Somerset. This is a remote worker role which requires regular on site visits across your designated region, so you will need to be flexible to travel which may require overnight stays. There will also be occasional requirement to visit our Head Office in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
The support you will offer will include carrying out H&S audits to ensure branches are compliant and proposing changes where required, undertaking risk assessments and coordinating surveys, advising on a variety of H&S issues including moving and handling, fire safety, DSE, control of substances hazardous to health and management of asbestos. Another key part of the role is ensuring checklists and reports are fit for purpose by carrying out investigations into incidents and reporting back to the relevant teams.
You will be an excellent communicator at all levels, always maintaining a people centred approach with the ability to build effective relationships and quickly establish your knowledge and credibility in this role.
You will have demonstrable experience working either as a H&S Advisor or a position managing Health & Safety as a sole focus within the role. As a minimum, you will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent. You will also have previous experience in carrying out Health & Safety risk assessments in a retail environment as well as conducting incident and accident investigations.
We understand that Neurodivergent candidates or candidates with a disability may need adjustments or extra support in the application or interview process - we are committed to providing every candidate the opportunity and environment in which to succeed and we will support any reasonable request where we can.
What do we give in return?
We think we have an amazing culture of looking out for each other and helping one another succeed. It’s a culture that has stood us well for 120 years!
Some Of The Benefits We Offer Include
Please note that applications are reviewed on a regular basis. The advert may be closed before the application end date, if we receive sufficient applications we wish to progress to interview.
