We have a standout opportunity for a driven and entrepreneurial Head of Rural Agency to lead and grow Bidwells’ rural agency service in Scotland — with the full backing of our renowned Rural team in Cambridge and a dynamic, well-connected Rural Estate Management and Professional (REMP) team in Scotland.


What you’ll be doing


Reporting to the Head of Rural for Scotland, you will be:


  • Leading rural sales and purchase transactions across Scotland, from instruction through to completion — including detail gathering, marketing, advertising, negotiating and delivering exceptional results.
  • Supporting with some professional valuation work.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders, including solicitors and financial institutions.
  • Managing instructions profitably and efficiently, maintaining a high standard of client service and delivery.
  • Developing new agency opportunities and building strong client relationships, while also supporting agency activity across our wider Scottish offices.
  • Growing, managing and leading the rural agency team, including recruitment and conducting performance appraisals.
  • Creating cross-selling opportunities by maintaining strong awareness of Bidwells’ full-service offering.
  • Providing robust, accurate advice for a range of clients and internally.
  • Working across Bidwells’ network, collaborating with colleagues in residential, rural and other teams in the South to maintain our national presence and ensure a joined-up service.
  • Actively promoting Bidwells in the market, networking with rural, agricultural and residential contacts across Central Scotland and beyond.
  • Forming good working relationships with other internal operational teams including Finance, HR, IT, Business Development & Marketing.
  • Keeping up to date on rural affairs and maintain continuous professional development.
  • Supporting the wider REMP team as necessary.


About You


We’re looking for someone with energy, confidence and a commercial mindset — someone who thrives in a client-facing role and knows how to win and deliver business.


You will have:

  • A sound knowledge and experience of rural property and agency sales and marketing.
  • Knowledge of and/or reputation in the Scotland rural real estate market.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels, both in person and over the phone.
  • Strong business development experience and a proven track record of securing new work.
  • Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Strong administrative and organisational ability.
  • The ability to use your initiative, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work well in a team.


It would be great (but not essential) if you also have:

  • An MRICS qualification
  • Registered Valuer status (or are working towards it)
  • Experience of leading and/or growing a team.
