The Head of Learning & Development tailors L&D initiatives to the regulatory, technical, and commercial realities of the fast-changing accountancy landscape. Their key purpose is to design, deliver, and embed a learning culture that ensures all staff — from trainees to partners — have the technical, professional, and leadership skills needed to meet regulatory requirements, drive business growth, and maintain competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities
As Head of Learning & Development, you will lead the design and delivery of a progressive L&D strategy that supports both our business goals and professional standards. Working in close partnership with senior leaders, you’ll anticipate future skills needs, from technical expertise and advisory skills to digital transformation, AI, automation, and ESG, ensuring our people are equipped to succeed in a changing profession.
You will oversee programmes for professional qualifications and CPD, champion leadership and soft skills development, and drive Firm-wide initiatives that strengthen our culture and capability. By building strong relationships with external providers and embedding learning into performance and appraisal processes, you’ll ensure development has real impact. With clear measures of success and visible promotion of initiatives across the firm, you’ll create a learning environment that inspires growth, drives retention, and supports our ambition to be a better place to work.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Previous senior leadership L&D position in a Professional Services or knowledge-worker environment.
- Skilled L&D practitioner in their own right - able to design and deliver high quality programmes.
- Team leadership expertise - able to coach and elicit high performance from their specialist team members.
- Appreciation of the accounting sector and regulatory environments is nice to have.
- Strong stakeholder management - able to work closely with partners and senior managers.
- Commercial mindset - balancing learning quality with productivity and billable work.
- Experience in designing blended learning solutions (classroom, online, coaching, mentoring).
- High emotional intelligence and ability to influence without direct authority.
