Are you an experienced estates and facilities leader looking to make a real difference? Henshaws, a leading northern charity supporting people living with sight loss and other disabilities, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Estates & Facilities to ensure our environments are safe, efficient, and enable people to thrive.


This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious organisation with strong values and a 185-year heritage of empowering individuals to go beyond expectations. With responsibility for multiple sites including our Specialist College in Harrogate and our Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough, you’ll lead a team delivering outstanding site management, maintenance, security, health & safety and compliance.


  • Location: Harrogate & Knaresborough, North Yorkshire
  • Salary: £24.03 per hour/£47,483.28 per annum
  • Contract: 12 Month Fix Term Contract, Full Time (38 Hours per Week)
  • Application Deadline: Friday 27th May 12 Noon.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and motivating the estates and facilities team across multiple sites
  • Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring our environments are safe, accessible and compliant
  • Managing contracts and budgets, ensuring value for money and high standards of delivery
  • Taking a lead role in health and safety, emergency planning, fire safety and risk assessments
  • Supporting future developments and capital projects with strategic oversight and operational planning


What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in estates and facilities leadership across multi-site operations
  • A strong understanding of health and safety legislation, building compliance and contractor management
  • Excellent project management, planning and organisational skills
  • A collaborative leader who thrives in a purpose-driven environment
