Head of Commercial Finance

37.5 hours p/w (Mon-Fri)

Hybrid: 2 days in Toddington HO

As the Head of Commercial Finance you will be a commercially focused, well organised individual, able to influence at Board level, business partner our Commercial team and deliver total business reporting, budgeting and long term business planning. You will be responsible for

  • Business partner Chief Financial Officer, Chief Customer Officer, Property Director (Board members)
  • Ensure a robust sales and margin forecast is in place by monitoring and challenging the forecast as well as investigating variances through to conclusion
  • Responsible for overall delivery of total business budget and ten-year business plan, including financial planning and story telling
  • Ensure delivery and accuracy in reporting, analysis and insight to explain the underlying variances against budget, forecast and last year for all stakeholders including shareholder board
  • Identify and follow risks and opportunities. Maintain an R&O for all financial aspects of business including outturn expectations
  • Provide direction to the Commercial team to improve the bottom line, drive sales, revenue and return on investment. Supporting cost control and simplification
  • Build, manage, track and evaluate investments and promotions to drive profit growth and capital expenditure challenge and forecast accuracy
  • Undertake and drive insightful analysis of all KPI’s
  • Manage and develop a finance team (total team size of 9; 4 direct reports and 5 indirect reports)
  • Establish effective relationships with all members of the senior management team and develop a deep knowledge and understanding of the business
  • Constantly strive to simplify processes while maintaining adequate controls

What we're looking for:

  • A fully qualified accountant, ideally with FMCG / Retail / Hospitality experience
  • Strong commercial finance background, ideally with FP&A experience
  • A strong communicator who is comfortable challenging the status quo
  • Strong, positive leadership and proven ability to motivate, challenge and delegate
  • Able to interpret and communicate financial issues to non-finance stakeholders
  • Ability to roll sleeves up and get into the detail when required
  • Business partner at Board level
  • Well organised, with high attention to detail
