EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As our Head of Application Services, you will report into the Head of IT Operations and provide clear leadership and strategic direction for the Apps & platforms across the Severn Trent Water technology network. You will have 6 direct reports and overall responsibility for team of around 60. We’ll be looking for you to guide and grow an engaged, talented, high performing team who are capable of building and supporting critical applications across the business.

You’ll have a wide remit in this exciting and fast paced role, from having final sign off on decisions around risk management for Application services to sign-off of mitigation strategies and strategic alignment.

Other key accountabilities within the role include: -

  • Responsible for fostering a collaborative environment with all stakeholders and interfacing teams to deliver to SLAs, budget, timelines and qualitative KPIs. Working with Suppliers and Service Providers to deliver a cost effective and efficient service.
  • Responsible for multiple teams within a complex, heavily integrated Application landscape. Ensuring clear direction on software frameworks and coding standards.
  • Create and develop motivated teams with the right capabilities and culture to succeed in delivering the Technology vision, strategy and roadmap, removing or mitigating single points of failure. Ensure teams are engaged and skilled, with appropriate planning for a changing landscape across the STW estate.
  • Responsible for Resource planning of the IT Operational requirements for Software Applications, as well as new demand and change requirements. Working closely with Technology Business Planning and Architectural Lead and the Delivery Lead. Provision of resources to deliver Programmes of work, managing contractors where required.
  • Responsible for Development standards across STW Technology, encompassing the full lifecycle from requirements gathering, innovation through design, product selection, procurement, implementation, support & maintenance.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

We’ll be looking for you to be a proven IT Tech leader who has experience of delivery pipelines, incident management and being able to manage a wide and disparate set of stakeholders. We’ll look for you to have previously used Microsoft Apps and worked in an environment of a multiple apps with a matrix of solutions.
