At Hammersley Homes our mission is to provide support for life for adults who live with enduring mental illnesses.

What difference will you make?

You will support Hammersley Homes to continue to provide much needed outreach to people throughout Hampshire who are living with an enduring mental illness. Our network of staff and trained volunteers have regular contact with over 100 people throughout the county, providing friendship, a listening ear, and encouraging engagement in local activities.

You will be part of our exciting plans to develop Day Centres and permanent Supported Housing. We are currently enabling popular social gatherings and plan to develop this opportunity further. Our housing plans are at an early stage and extending our fundraising reach is a vital part of this activity.

What are we looking for?

We wish to strengthen our governance by recruiting trustees who have personal lived experience of mental illness, or who provide professional or family support.

We want our trustees to be proud to represent us and act as ambassadors, willing to promote the charity to their network of contacts and to attend fundraising events.

We are particularly keen to recruit a new finance trustee to provide guidance and ensure compliance.

The general responsibilities of our trustees are to;

Contribute to the broader promotion of Hammersley Homes’ objects, aims and reputation by. applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.

Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

Oversee our financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.

Ensure the effective administration of the organisation and that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled.

Provide support and challenge to our CEO.

Keep abreast of changes in Hammersley Homes’ operating environment.

Use independent judgement, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect our interests.

Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees. and to act in the best interests of the organisation.

Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement.

Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion.

A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Commitment to Nolan’s principles selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

What will you be doing?

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that we achieve our mission by providing ongoing outreach support to individuals throughout Hampshire and working to develop Day Centres and permanent Supported Housing.

They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity and ensure that we have a clear strategy and operate in line with our vision.

The demand for our outreach service is growing in several areas in Hampshire. In addition, we are working towards developing the provision of Day Centres and permanent Supported Accommodation.

We are therefore looking to strengthen our governance by recruiting new trustees who have personal lived experience of mental illness, or who provide professional or family support.
