Job Purpose

To manage a team of accountants ensuring that all relevant postings are made within MS Business Central, culminating in the timely production of accurate monthly management accounts for all Cavello Group subsidiary companies by working day 10. This includes preparation of a comprehensive Balance Sheet reconciliation file, ensuring all control accounts and subsidiary ledgers are fully reconciled.

The Group Management Accountant provides critical financial insight to the Group Financial Controller and senior stakeholders, supporting decision-making through robust analysis, forecasting, and performance monitoring. This role also supports continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function, driving consistency, efficiency, and data accuracy across the group

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that all month-end journals are constructed and dimensioned correctly and posted within MS Business Central.
  • Management account for assigned Cavello subsidiaries, accurately prepared and on delivered on time and reflective of the MS Business Central numbers.
  • Ensuring all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled with supporting schedules.
  • Ensure all intercompany balances and turnover agree at month end.
  • Ensure all intercompany invoices are raised per agreement/budget and paid.
  • To lead with the Group Financial Controller the annual audit information provision and assistance with auditor’s sample testing.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring robust assumptions and alignment with group strategic objectives.
  • Reconciling and submitting VAT returns for the group.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the management accounts team to ensure continuous improvement in performance and capability.
  • To be a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders in the absence of the Group Financial Controller.
  • To work closely with the Group Project Accountant on driving improvements in financial reporting for the group.
  • Processing and checking payroll with the Group Financial Controller.
  • To work with the team to improve the board reporting, providing insights into the financial data offered up.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade C and above or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • CIMA Management/ ACCA Applied knowledge or equivalent accounting qualification required with a commitment to continue on your study path.
  • IT understanding, preferably across the MS office applications and MS 365.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in an office environment or similar where relationship management is paramount.
  • An understanding of business requirements.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication with a variety of people, working with all levels of our business.
  • Experience working within accounts department.

Knowledge

  • Understanding the fundamentals of how Management accounts are to be produced beyond the Trial Balance stage.
  • Knowledge of the UK accounting regulatory framework.

Skills And Abilities

  • Able to effectively self-manage to achieve the key objectives associated with the role.
  • Ability to build inter departmental relationships; communicate and negotiate effectively, work under pressure, multitask, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Able to use a PC including Microsoft Office applications, MS Business Central accounting package, MS 365 applications and in-house database.
  • This role may require the post holder to work occasional evenings and weekends.
