Are you ready to make waves in the environmental sector? As a Graduate Consultant in Water Quality, you'll be at the forefront of investigating pollution incidents and ensuring the health of our waterways. If you’re passionate about protecting our planet’s most precious resource, then this role is the perfect opportunity to test the waters!
Your mission: to get your boots wet by investigating water pollution incidents, conducting vital water sampling, and monitoring environmental impacts across the Southern Water region. From fieldwork to lab analysis, you’ll help keep our waters safe and flowing clean.
35 hours per week; 9am until 5pm, five days per week (Monday to Friday), alongside a requirement to be on a standby rota, 1 week in 6, for weekend/public holiday and evening work. Overtime paid for instructed works during standby periods, all this will be planned in advance for you!
More details about the role:
- Attending and investigating water pollution incidents across the Southern Water region
- Completing field monitoring works including water quality measurements and sampling
- Completing data entry after collecting data in the field
- Technical report writing in response to water pollution incidents, time limited in accordance with client requirements
- Maintaining all equipment needed for site and maintain cleanliness of vehicle to a high standard and inform line manager if new equipment is needed
- Providing accurate and timely information to line management
About you:
- Degree in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline
- Understanding of water chemistry and the indicative parameters
- Local to the area of Winchester
- A full clean UK driving licence
- Experience in scientific fieldwork, and an enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers
- Competent user of Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Analytical and numerical skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail
