The Role

Are you passionate about doing things right and making a meaningful impact across an organisation? We’re looking for a Governance & Assurance Officer to join our small team to provide excellent services to others. This will involve driving forward our new procurement arrangements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and data protection, whilst supporting the Executive team and our Customer and Homes Committee.

In this dynamic and fast-paced role, you'll be at the heart of our governance and risk management efforts, working closely with our Executive Team and Board to drive forward key initiatives.

Although we offer hybrid working, there is an expectation to attend the office twice a week and in addition if required, with a minimum of 4 committee meetings a year running into early evening.

The Main Activities Are

  • Act as the primary contact for procurement administration, supporting the development and implementation of a robust procurement framework.
  • Lead governance initiatives, including managing action plans, enhancing systems and records, maintaining SharePoint pages, and monitoring compliance with Regulatory Standards.
  • Lead on the collation of Data Subject Access Requests and other information requests, while contributing to data protection projects to ensure legal compliance.
  • Support the organisation’s Business Continuity Planning by assisting with the development and maintenance of relevant procedures.
  • Provide governance support to the Customer & Homes Committee, including preparing meeting packs, coordinating meetings and forward plans, and engaging with involved customers (minimum of four meetings annually).
  • Deliver administrative support to Executive Team meetings and members, ensuring smooth coordination and documentation.
  • Collaborate across the Governance & Risk Team, offering flexible support and covering Board and Committee activities when needed.

Experience – Essential

  • Highly organised and structured with project planning skills
  • Proactive and able to manage own workload
  • Attention to detail and methodical
  • Able to work as part of a small team but also independently
  • Great admin skills across all Microsoft packages and SharePoint
  • Able to work a minimum of 2 days per week in the Bristol office
  • Flexibility to occasionally work evenings to support a small number of planned meetings annually

Experience – Desirable But Training Will Be Provided

  • Minute taking skills
  • Data Protection knowledge
  • Procurement/contract management knowledge
  • Social housing experience
