Job Description
Do you want to join our Geo-data revolution? Fugro’s global reach and unique know-how will put the world at your fingertips. Our love of exploration and technical expertise help us to provide our clients with invaluable insights. We source and make sense of the most relevant Geo-data for their needs, so they can design, build and operate their assets more safely, sustainably and efficiently. But we’re always looking for new talent to take the next step with us. For bright minds who enjoy meaningful work and want to push our pioneering spirit further. For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.
The Role
As a Graduate Geophysicist you will be at the forefront of cutting edge technology to support with the processing of geophysical data for some of the world's largest offshore renewables and engineering projects. Your expertise will be pivotal in integrating geophysical data with hydrographic, geotechnical, and environmental data to deliver comprehensive solutions that ensure the safe and successful completion of these projects. You will play a crucial role in overcoming technical challenges and contributing to critical decisions on marine environment development.
In this dynamic role, you will handle and interpret geophysical data sets, including sub-bottom profiler, side scan sonar, and magnetometer. You will actively participate in offshore survey operations, including vessel mobilisations and demobilisations, offshore processing, and back-deck operations. Ensuring high data quality throughout the project lifecycle, from acquisition to deliverables, will be a key responsibility. You will also collaborate with colleagues and clients professionally to meet project objectives and adhere to company health and safety policies.
Our Graduate Programme
This one-year programme is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and professional development, setting the foundation for a successful career in Geophysics. This will allow you to work with and learn from our industry experts whilst you develop into an experienced geophysics expert.
Throughout the programme, you will rotate between our offshore and nearshore geophysical services, gaining invaluable experience in both environments. This rotation ensures that you develop a well-rounded understanding of our marine geophysical service lines, from offshore site investigations to offshore geophysical surveys and onshore operations.
You will be involved in meaningful projects that contribute to the success of our clients and the advancement of our industry, whilst developing in a supportive and safe culture.
In addition to the technical experience, you will participate in our U-grow programme, which focuses on your professional development. This supportive initiative is tailored to help you grow both personally and professionally, providing you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in your career. You will be embedded into Fugro at a sensible pace, allowing you to acclimate to our company culture while making significant contributions to our projects.
Upon successful completion of the graduate programme, you will have the opportunity to apply for a role outside the programme within Fugro. We are committed to nurturing talent and providing a clear pathway for career progression within our organisation.
Who We’re Looking For
You should have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geophysics or a closely related subject such as Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or Oceanography.
You will possess a keen interest in both offshore and nearshore geophysical services, and be excited about the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in diverse environments. You should have a genuine curiosity about the natural world and a desire to solve complex geophysical data challenges.
What We Offer
Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you’ll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.
At Fugro, our people are our superpower. Their variety of viewpoints, experiences, knowledge and talents give us collective strength. Distinctive beliefs and diverse backgrounds are therefore welcome, but discrimination, harassment, inappropriate behaviour and unfair treatment are not. Everybody is to be well-supported and treated fairly. And everyone must be valued and have their voice heard. Crucially, we believe that getting this right brings a sense of belonging, of safety and acceptance, that makes us feel more connected to Fugro’s purpose ‘together create a safe and liveable world’ – and to each other.
