Role Summary/Purpose
The Generator Specialist travels to Power Plants in the UK and worldwide and supports our internal and external customers with Generator and Exciter installations, inspection, maintenance, fault finding & repairs including Minor Repair works through to full Rewinds. Generators are Hydrogen & Water Cooled ranging up to 2000MW. World class execution done Safely, on budget, with the right Quality.
This position requires technical competence in reading and interpreting engineering documents including but not restricted to previous Outage Plans, Technical & Quality instructions, winding diagrams and Engineering drawings. A thorough knowledge of Generator Technology is required..

Essential Function & Responsibilities
- Interpretation of Electrical Winding Diagrams.
- Understand Winding Processes and Methodology and apply correct solutions on inspections & repairs.
- Work under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules.
- Perform inspections and minor repair works of all type of generator windings.
- Provide Technical Instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, repair and maintenance at customer's sites.
- Maintain strong Safety and Quality mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within Arabelle Solutions, customers and legislative safety standards.
- Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
- Perform Fault Finding on windings and provide routine maintenance checkout for wide range of equipment vintage and other OEM designs.
- Assist with Diagnostic tests such as Iron Core Low Flux Tests, Electrical tests, Doppler Flow water Measurements
- Strip and Inspect Generator Rotors, clean repair and rebuild.
- Strip and Inspect Generator Stators, clean repair and rebuild
- Strip and Inspect Generator Exciters, clean repair and rebuild
- Rewind Generator Stators.
- Rewind Generator Rotors.
- Rewind Exciters.
- Perform administrative functions such as: writing and amending as required Risk Assessments, writing Technical Reports, reviewing and amending quality documentation, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers.
- Coach, mentor and develop other team members as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge.
- Ensure all parts needed for the job are shipped to the site and checked before installation.
- Perform walk-downs during installation to ensure that workforce under his technical direction are working safely, and delivering the higest standard of work.
- Provide Supervision of team as required to execute the job when needed.
- Recognised Time served Apprenticeship in Armature Winding of Heavy electrical machines
- City & Guilds 232 or NVQ Equivalent on Electrical Machines
- Extensive knowledge of Brazing Techniques
- Basic knowledge of Electrical Testing
- Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required.
- Demonstrates individual & team skills.
- Experience and training on Alstom, GE, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferred
- Fluent in English language.
- Strong organisational skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
