Main Purpose of Role:

AYBL is seeking a highly skilled Garment Technologist to join our in-house team, with expertise in both Womenswear and Menswear across multiple product categories. In this role, you'll collaborate with and report directly to our Senior Designer and Garment Technologist. You will support in the creation and development of new, innovative products, ensuring they are not only functional but also consistent with our existing product range. You will oversee and manage the entire fit process, from the first sample to bulk production.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Overseeing the product development process, from the initial design concept to the final product, ensuring both the fit of all garments but also that each design is technically sound and meets our quality standards.
  • Working closely with the garment tech and design departments to develop branded products which are fit for purpose.
  • Provide technical information to design and development packs, including measurements, block and construction details in order to get the perfect first sample.
  • Responsible for measuring & sending comments on samples to suppliers. Ensuring all sample comments are clear and concise, and analysing product patterns where necessary to provide detailed and accurate technical feedback.
  • Responsible for all product grading and advising final graded specs for bulk production, ensuring the product fit is consistent across all categories.
  • Support in organising and leading our weekly fit meetings from a technical standpoint with the input of the Design & Buying team.
  • Managing the development and maintenance of our size guides, grading rules and specifications as well as product manuals or documentation.
  • Working closely with our various international suppliers to ensure that all garments are manufactured efficiently and to the highest standards whilst maintaining strong lines of communication and nurturing our supplier relationships.
  • Supporting our internal QC team to maintain existing product standards and ensuring that relevant products comply with safety and quality standards.
  • And any other duties required by your manager.


Person Specification

  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in a Garment Technologist role
  • Previous experience in Seamless/Sportswear product is imperative
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering high-quality products across multiple categories, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, fabric properties, grading, sizing and manufacturing processes across both womenswear and menswear.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both with cross-functional teams and with international suppliers.
  • Ability to assist with the management of our quality control processes.
  • Experience working with international factories and suppliers.
  • Exceptional attention to detail & quality standards
  • A familiarity with relevant safety and quality standards, including testing methods and procedures.
  • Highly organised with the ability to self-manage is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Driven work ethic, taking ownership of your workload/role.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Interest in the fitness industry would be advantageous.
