Job Overview

An exciting training opportunity is available for enthusiastic and forward thinking newly qualified pharmacists to join our friendly and supportive teams of pharmacy staff in North Wales. These unique multi-sector posts will allow you to develop your clinical pharmacy skills and get involved in patient care across primary and secondary care.

Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to undertake Cardiff University modules including Independent prescribing across different sectors of pharmacy practice – Acute hospital, community hospitals and services, community pharmacy and primary care (GP practices).

Main duties of the job

If you are newly registered with the GPhC, there will also be the opportunity whilst in post to follow the HEIW post-graduate foundation pharmacist structured 2 year training programme. At the end of the two year programme your portfolio will be submitted for Royal Pharmaceutical Society Foundation framework credentialing.

Working as part of our integrated clinical pharmacy teams you will have direct involvement in patient care and influence treatment choices by being involved in decision-making at the point of prescribing. There will be added opportunity to focus on specialist and generalist clinical areas as part of a rotational programme.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • MPharm Degree or equivalent
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy
  • Good knowledge of therapeutics
  • Knowledge of electronic and manual information sources

Desirable criteria

  • Practicing member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
  • Training qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of patient-orientated medicines systems

Aptitudes And Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Good verbal/written communication skills

Desirable criteria

  • Organisational ability

Other

Essential criteria

  • Participate in the provision of general public holiday and weekend pharmacy services as necessary
  • Willingness to participate in on-call roster as necessary
