Force Command Centre Supervisor
Surrey Police

We’re looking for skilled, motivated, and people-focused individuals to join our Force Command Centre (FCC) as Supervisors, supporting the delivery of 24/7 operational policing across Surrey.
As an FCC Supervisor, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping how we respond to the public, whether it’s life-threatening emergencies, safeguarding concerns, or routine reports that all require the right response. Every contact counts.
You will be hands-on in leading teams, managing live demand, and driving performance in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment where every contact counts.
You’ll play a vital role within the FCC structure, sitting between our frontline Call Handlers and Dispatchers, and our Duty Managers and Force Incident Managers.
Why this role matters
The Force Command Centre (FCC) is at the heart of policing in Surrey. It’s where all contact and incident deployment is managed. We are driven by a strong sense of public service, acting with professional curiosity to assess risk and make decisions based on need, not assumption.
What you'll do
- Lead and motivate a team of Call Handlers or Dispatchers, ensuring the timely and effective handling of emergency and non-emergency contact from the public and partner agencies
- Identify and manage risk, ensuring calls are appropriately graded, resources are deployed effectively, and the safety of the public and officers is prioritised
- Oversee incidents in real time, ensuring compliance with national standards and force deployment policies
- Manage team performance and development, including call and dispatch quality, attendance, welfare, and professional standards
- Support major incidents and critical events, working alongside Duty Managers and the Force Incident Manager to coordinate the right response
- Drive continuous improvement, capturing learning, identifying training needs, and delivering coaching or feedback to help your team grow.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a control room, contact centre, or emergency services environment
- Demonstrated supervisory experience or clear potential to supervise and coach others
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills under pressure
- Strong understanding of call handling, dispatch, and risk-based decision making
- A genuine focus on public service, team development, and operational excellence.
