About the Role

A leading AI research lab is seeking Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) subject-matter experts (SMEs) to support the development of cutting-edge AI models. In this role, you will apply your expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making to create high-quality training data and evaluation frameworks that reflect real-world finance workflows.

This is a remote, flexible engagement designed as a long-term (6–12 month) contract, providing an opportunity to shape the future of AI in finance.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve model reasoning in FP&A.
  • Develop and maintain annotation standards, rubrics, and evaluation frameworks tailored to FP&A workflows.
  • Design challenging, domain-specific tasks and provide structured, well-reasoned solutions.
  • Review AI-generated financial plans, forecasts, and reports for accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with fellow finance experts to ensure consistency, rigor, and alignment with best practices.

Qualifications

  • Location: Must be based in the U.S., UK, or Canada.
  • Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration from a top-tier institution.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in FP&A at a reputable organization.
  • Strong skills in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial reasoning into structured insights.

Compensation & Contract

  • Hourly Rate: $80–$100, based on experience.
  • Contract Type: Long-term (6–12 months).
  • Commitment: ~40 hours/week preferred, with a minimum of 20 hours/week.
  • Collaboration: Join 2–5 calibration calls weekly with research teams.
  • Status: Independent contractor.
