What's the role?

The Finance Manager assists the Financial Controller by leading and delivering the month end reporting and day-to-day processes of designated legal entities.

The Finance Manager and team are responsible for delivering accurate and timely reporting of financial information required for monthly Group and annual statutory reporting processes. This includes implementation and reporting of technical accounting areas as well as processing of large volumes of data.

Covering two of the Group’s core business segments, this is a key role that will require exemplary analytical and stakeholder management skills, with a passion and drive for driving continuous improvement across processes and controls.

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 8:30-5:00, 40 hours per week. Hybrid working is on offer, consisting of 2 days in office and 3 days at home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of the month end financial reporting of legal entities within designated area including financial analysis and commentary.
  • Completion of key financial reporting tasks including bad debt provision, accruals, prepayments, intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations and other general journals.
  • Assist the Financial Controller in delivery of high quality and insightful management information including presentation of such findings.
  • Assist in completing budgeting and forecasting cycles to support short, medium and long-term business planning in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Ownership of short-term cash and working capital forecasting, reporting and commentary.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations accurately and within reporting deadlines with any queries resolved in a timely manner.
  • Be a trusted support partner to Divisional operating directors and senior management team.
  • Completion of monthly VAT reconciliations, ensuring correct and appropriate VAT treatment is applied.
  • Manage, support and guide a small team of direct reports.
  • Manage audit process of legal entities within designated area.
  • Develop and document business processes to drive continuous improvement and maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Liaise with the consolidation team to ensure alignment and compliance with Group standards.
  • Provision of ad-hoc support to the Financial Controller and Director of Financial Reporting with involvement in projects as required.
  • Any other duties as required.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have/be:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified accountant with strong academic background and strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Experience with month end close process.
  • Good numerical ability with an attention to detail and experience in managing large volumes of data.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge - International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) preferable.
  • Strong financial modelling skills including advanced excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Robust commercial awareness.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage a busy and varied workload.
  • Experience of general ledger systems; knowledge and experience of Microsoft Dynamics 365 an advantage.
