About the team and the role
The Finance Operations team are key business partners to the Operations & Supply Chain team, working closely with our partners at Ocado Logistics; we strive to provide best in class insight & analysis into operational spend & investments to help drive improved profitability. With exposure to senior stakeholders and management of more than £650m worth of operational costs it’s an exciting role which has a real impact on the business.
Reporting to the Finance Manager - Operations, the role will support the Finance Manager in challenging and analysing operational costs including our stockholding, preparing the annual budget and supporting analysis and insight into our operational spends. This team also plays a key role in supporting wider initiatives and business cases to further improve our operational efficiency as ORL continues to grow.
What you’ll do
- Operations Business Partnering & Reporting - Support with Finance business partnering activities to our operations team, stock teams and senior leadership, providing insight, analysis and challenge to our operational performance, ensuring that our cost base is closely managed to maximise efficiency of our network.
- Relationships with Key Stakeholders - Build strong relationships with our colleagues at Ocado Group Logistics who provide our logistics operations for our customers, challenging and stretching them to drive efficiencies for our business from both a cost and an output perspective. This role will also develop strong relationships with our internal stakeholders who form part of our stock lifecycles from purchase through to delivery.
- Reporting & Analysis - This role will work closely with our Accounting Centre of Excellence team and our FP&A team to ensure the integrity of our operational cost base and stock positions. The role will provide analysis and story-telling to Finance leadership and our ORL Leadership team, collaborating with our Operations & Stock teams to identify key actions to continue our growth sustainably.
- Key Strategic Project Support - This role will support the Finance Manager to partner with our network team, our operations team and our logistics team to draft business cases and support with the delivery of key strategic projects, contributing to the continued growth and efficiency of our operations and stock management processes.
Who you are
- Qualified accountant with strong academics
- Highly numerate and analytical with a keen eye for detail that is deadline focused and goal oriented
- Experience of business partnering with senior and/or external stakeholders is desirable
- Strong communication, relationship building and influencing skills
- Ability to articulate financial data in a clear and transparent way
- Enhanced Excel skills are desirable
- Commercial acumen and experience of delivering value-add insight
- Eager to learn
- Previous Retail or Logistics experience desirable
