Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Location: Field based, South of England

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to contribute towards our service team covering our Applikon Bio-Processing portfolio of products.

Responsible for installation, corrective and preventative maintenance and re-validating equipment for the Getinge Applikon product install base. You will have the opportunity to make a difference by utilising your technical knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth operation of our equipment in the field, representing the business and building relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver the best possible service.

This is a field-based role and you will need to be a self-starter with experience of managing your own workload. Although you will be mostly working independently, you will be supported by regular contact with the Service Office, Service Managers and our Technical Services Department which has direct access to Getinge manufacturing sites and a wealth of technical know-how and expertise.

The successful candidate will have a background and relevant qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering. Comprehensive training on Getinge’s equipment will be provided by our dedicated in-house training team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and commissioning of bio-processing equipment on customer sites.
  • Instructing the customer on the operation of the bio-processing equipment, including software & calibrations
  • Providing advice and support to the customer prior to installation of the bio-processing equipment.
  • Supporting other bio-processing colleagues (internal or external) on service-related matters
  • Supporting the preparation of service contract quotations for renewals incl. parts where appropriate, at least 3 months before contract expiry
  • Conduct scheduled service and preventive maintenance visits requested by the customers, as described in the supporting service contract documentation and/or maintenance agreements.
  • Performing urgent repairs in a fast and efficient manner, including providing telephone and e-mail support (incl Teams) to customers and colleagues for bio-processing equipment.
  • Providing administrative, technical and operational support, as needed
  • Preparing service reports in connection with repairs, maintenance and service visits.
  • Preparing and completing Work Orders and Maintenance Reports in a timely manner, using Getinge service asset management software SalesForce
  • Feedback of data and experiences gained from contacts with customers, including escalating any complaints to the bio-processing Service Technical Manager (STM) and/or Life Science UKI Service Manager
  • Participating in internal or external training courses
  • Managing part stock inventory, including ordering of service parts & quarantine/return of any defective parts.
  • Managing, monitoring and maintaining the assigned service tools and material, including calibration of test equipment
  • Ensuring the correct application of the standards & regulations as per Getinge QMS.
  • Ensuring feedback on quality deviations.
  • Promoting the Applikon bio-processing products, service and image.
  • Ensuring proper availability of the assigned service tools and materials
  • The correct performance of service activities in general, in accordance with customer service contract SLA’s.
  • Correct application of ESD safety provisions
  • Maintaining positive relationship & contact with customers for all service-technical matters, including owning customer sites

Qualifications

What You Need:

  • Minimum City & Guilds Level 3 or an equivalent qualification in electrical and/or mechanical engineering.

Knowledge/experience

  • Experience as a Field Service Engineer highly desirable, ideally within the Life Sciences industry, however experience within Field Service Healthcare industry also welcome (e.g. medical devices, diagnostic imaging, pathology service etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of IT for service & product requirements (software & networking)
  • Good working knowledge of Instrumentation, Mechanics, Electrics, Electronics skills is desirable
  • Previous knowledge and experience of service/testing of bioreactor devices is desirable, but not essential

Personal Qualities

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently & as part of a national Service team
  • Good organizational skills and demonstrated customer-oriented attitude
  • The allocated territory for this role is the South of England and you will be required to travel throughout your region on a daily basis to fulfil the requirements of your role
  • However, travel across the UK&I and internationally may also be required on occasion to visit customers, support colleagues, attend training or other events or to attend Getinge premises
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required
