Contract type: Full time

We are now seeking a Field Deployment Engineer to join our team and help deliver this transformative technology.

Join Archangel Autonomy and help transform machines into teammates.

At Archangel Autonomy, we’re combining AI and robotics to protect our service personnel, critical infrastructure, and first responders in large, remote areas.

We’re pushing the boundaries of technology by creating systems that don’t just assist but become teammates in the field.

Our groundbreaking UXV navigation co-pilot system is designed to operate autonomously in some of the world's most challenging environments, even where GPS and navigation signals are unavailable. With applications in both civil and military use cases, our mission is to redefine how humans and machines collaborate.

About the Role

As a Field Deployment Engineer, you will be on the front lines of deploying, integrating, and supporting our AI-driven systems in the real world. Your work will ensure that our cutting-edge technology performs seamlessly for our customers in demanding environments.

You’ll balance hands-on product testing during the development phase with external-facing support responsibilities as our systems are deployed globally.

What you’ll do

  • First responder: Provide on-site and remote support as the first responder for product installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance to ensure optimal customer satisfaction and seamless operations. Regardless of whether the issue falls within your area of expertise, you take the lead in addressing it and collaborate with the appropriate experts such as product development team to ensure it is resolved effectively.
  • Hardware support: Support the assembly, integration, and testing of products both in-lab and in-field to maintain quality standards
  • Documentation: Contribute to the creation, review, and maintenance of high-quality documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user manuals, training material, records of field activities, technical issues, and solutions to improve support processes and knowledge-sharing
  • Engineering support: Contribute to creative problem solving to ensure seamless execution, optimise the success of deployed products, and enable integration across a diverse range of customer platforms, workflows, and technology stacks.

What you bring

Must haves:

  • Proficiency in Linux troubleshooting, including command line and scripting experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a support/field/product engineering role, particularly in industries like aerospace, defence, or high-quality assurance sectors.
  • Ability to travel 25-50%, both within the UK and internationally.
  • A valid UK driving license and the ability to obtain relevant security clearances.

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience with UAVs/drones, including flight controllers, sensors, and payload integration.
  • Background in aerospace, defence, or service industries (RAF, Navy, Army).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based navigation technology, flight simulation software, or camera systems.
  • Programming knowledge in Python and C++
  • Experience with standard troubleshooting tools and diagnostic equipment.

What to expect in your day-to-day

  • Provide first line on-site, or remote troubleshooting for products currently deployed with customers.
  • Collaborate with engineers, flight trials teams, and customer success teams to prepare and deploy products for demonstrations and in-field testing.
  • Solve real-world challenges in partnership with customers and contribute directly to mission-critical projects.
  • Support product performance in environments where no GPS or standard navigation signals are available.

By joining us, you'll have

  • The ability to make a measurable difference in the creation of cutting-edge technology in a rapidly growing start-up
  • Fast-paced environment with a world-class, positive, talented, and high-achieving team
  • Forward-thinking, supportive culture with company off-site strategic alignment
  • World-class growth opportunities and training resources including self-development days
  • Merit-based compensation
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • 25 days holiday + UK bank holidays
  • Medical insurance
  • Relocation Support Package
  • Team socials
  • A variety of perks that are evolving: Free Monday team lunch, Cycle2work scheme, access to your favourite app subscription, plus many more in the works!
