The Department of Geography wishes to appoint a suitably skilled and enthusiastic individual to the new role of Facilities Technician. Based in the centre of Cambridge, this is a varied role as part of a small, friendly team supporting the teaching and research of the Department.
The role holder is a member of the Department's Buildings Operations team of five, acting as a deputy to the Buildings, Safety and Engineering Manager (BSEM) and supervising the work of the Custodian to ensure the safe and effective operation of buildings, services and facilities. They support the BSEM in regulatory compliance and health and safety matters, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant University guidance and legislation, and advise on departmental risk assessments, including those for general workplace, workshop and fieldwork activities. They have oversight of departmental space allocation, liaise with the central Estates Division and external contractors for both reactive and planned maintenance work, and provide basic technical and AV support for teaching and meeting spaces.
