The Role

The role of the External Sales Manager at TechPoint Golledge is crucial for driving growth, building relationships, and expanding the customer base. TechPoint Golledge are a leading supplier of frequency control products, including quartz crystals, oscillators, TCXOs, VCXOs, OCXOs, RTC modules, crystal filters, SAW filters and SAW duplexers, to the worldwide electronics industry.

The role has full ownership and responsibility for establishing, managing and maintaining customer and client relationships, acting as a primary representative for the wider group. The right candidate should have excellent relationship building skills and be extremely customer oriented.

This role would be perfect for someone who is a self starter, motivated and highly collaborative, with significant sales skills within the Electronics Manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside the internal marketing team, conduct market research to identify potential clients, market trends and competitors. Analyse customer needs and assess market demand.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to expand the customer base, whilst exploring new markets and opportunities for growth.
  • Identify and pursue business opportunities through networking and partnerships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new clients and understanding client requirements and propose suitable PCB solutions and address customer concerns, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Regularly review objectives and sales targets and work towards achieving or exceeding them.
  • Develop pricing strategies and negotiate contracts with clients.
  • Collaborate with the internal sales team to close deals and generate revenue.
  • Stay updated with the latest PCB/component manufacturing technologies and industry trends.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows and conferences to network with potential clients and partners.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and quotations for significant opportunities from potential clients, customising product offerings based on client requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as marketing, internal sales, production, engineering and quality assurance to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Provide feedback from clients to internal teams for product/service improvements.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients, working closely with finance teams to ensure contracts are finalised smoothly.
  • Prepare regular sales and business development reports for the management team.
  • Analyse sales data and trends to make informed business decisions.
  • Ensure all business development activities comply with legal and ethical standards, upholding TechPoint’s reputation and values whilst doing so.
  • Ensure customer data and activity is properly recorded using the CRM system.
  • Create and manage own leads and pipeline, being proactive to open doors to drive and grow new business opportunities.

About You

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, marketing, engineering or a related field or technical background, ideally in electrical engineering or product manufacturing.
    • Thorough knowledge of customer applications in the following markets, Medical, Aerospace, Defense, Industrial and Automotive.
    • Tangible experience in new sales negotiation and business development roles, especially in the electronics or manufacturing industry.
    • Strong sales skills and the ability to negotiate effectively are crucial, as well as the ability to close deals and secure contracts.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for building relationships with clients, presenting proposals and networking.
    • An understanding of technical aspects related to PCB manufacturing, with the ability to communicate this effectively between clients and internal teams.
    • Ability to conduct market research, analyse data and identify trends to make informed decisions.
    • Experience in establishing, managing and maintaining client relationships, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
    • Demonstrable success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and building long-term client relationships.
    • Experience with the use of CRM systems and other sales tools.
    • Clean UK Driving License with the ability to travel the majority of the working week to meeting clients and conduct other role requirements.
    • Must meet criteria for security clearance.
    • Desirable – In-depth knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, electronic components and technologies.
    • Desirable – Experience within the PCB manufacturing industry, either within technical or sales capacities.
    • Desirable – Basic project management skills, with experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously, delivering projects within time frames and budgets.
