The Role

As an Exercise Oncology Specialist with us, you'll play a pivotal role in being responsible for providing the day-to-day co-ordination and delivery of the Exercise Medicine Service. You will be working under the supervision of the Physiotherapist (Exercise Clinic Lead (ECL)), to provide guidance and support to people with a prescribed exercise programme as part of their cancer treatment. What You'll Do

  • Develop and deliver tailored exercise programmes for patients in the Exercise Medicine Service.
  • Ensure all sessions, whether in-person or virtual, are safe, engaging, and aligned with the patient’s health status and treatment plans.
  • Manage patient schedules and ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including updates on progress, discharges, and recommendations for ongoing exercise.
  • Work closely with internal teams, Penny Brohn consultants, and external stakeholders to provide a holistic and high-quality patient experience.
  • Actively contribute to service improvement initiatives and participate in relevant forums to enhance the Exercise Medicine service.
  • Maintain professional qualifications and participate in ongoing training and development.
  • Ensure compliance with GenesisCare policies, legal regulations, and the statutory Duty of Candour to uphold patient safety and care standards.

  • (Desirable) Experience of working with those living with and beyond cancer

Essential

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Level 3 Qualified Personal Trainer with at least 3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of Oncology and long-term conditions

Desirable

  • Level 4 Qualification in Cancer and Exercise
  • GP referral qualification / Specialist population instructor qualifications as appropriate
  • Registered with a professional body e.g. CIMSPA plus requirement to maintain ongoing registration
  • Motivational and behavioural interviewing qualification/experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft, Excel and databases
