Are you a commercially savvy Estimator with a passion for construction and utilities? Do you thrive on creating robust, competitive quotes that help win meaningful work? Join Ground Control’s growing Utilities Major Projects team and play a key role in pricing and securing projects that shape the UK’s critical infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
As an Estimator, you’ll support pricing across a range of services including vegetation clearance, fencing, ecology, minor civils, and enabling works. You’ll be working with top-tier clients, ensuring your estimates are not just accurate but commercially strategic.
This is a nationwide role that will require travel as and when required as well as time working from home. We are flexible on the location of the right candidate as long as they have good access to motorway links both to the north and south.

Key responsibilities:
As an Estimator, you’ll support pricing across a range of services including vegetation clearance, fencing, ecology, minor civils, and enabling works. You’ll be working with top-tier clients, ensuring your estimates are not just accurate but commercially strategic.
- Prepare clear, commercially robust quotes and estimates under tight deadlines
- Interpret technical drawings, scopes, and site surveys (virtual or in-person)
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather inputs and confirm assumptions
- Build pricing models using rate cards, measured works, or lump sums
- Support handover to operational delivery teams
- Contribute to business development through pricing support and market insight

You’ll need
- Proven experience in estimating across construction/utilities projects
- Excellent Excel and numeracy skills
- Ability to interpret technical project documentation
- Strong commercial awareness and risk insight
- Ability to juggle multiple bids in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent stakeholder communication and supplier engagement
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Experience with vegetation management, fencing, civils, or enabling works
- Familiarity working with Tier 1 contractors
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering (or similar)
- Membership of RICS/CICES or similar
- CSCS and SMSTS/SSSTS certifications
