AEM Limited has been Europe's leading independent overhaul and repair facility for more than 60 years. The company has a solid reputation in the aerospace industry for providing a broad range of services to international and regional airlines, helicopter operators and airframe manufacturers.

We are currently looking for an Environmental Supervisor for our Ramsgate site.

Purpose of role

Ensures full compliance with environmental legislation and drives sustainability across the organization, managing regulatory risk, and leading environmental performance improvements aligned with corporate and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with REACH, COSHH, COMAH (Lower Tier), and UK HSE legislation.
  • Maintain the COMAH MAPP, conduct hazard identification, and lead emergency planning.
  • Liaise with the HSE and Environment Agency on inspections and reporting.
  • Prepare for and manage ISO 14001 audits and maintain EMS documentation.

Chemical & Waste Management

  • Control chemical approvals, SDS reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain chemical inventory and ensure safe storage and segregation.
  • Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste segregation, disposal, and recycling.

Sustainability & Environmental Performance

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies (e.g., low-VOC chemicals, energy efficiency).
  • Monitor and report on KPIs: carbon footprint, energy, water, and waste.
  • Promote circular economy practices and sustainable procurement.
  • Lead employee engagement in green initiatives and awareness campaigns.

Training & Awareness

  • Deliver training on chemical handling, spill response, and environmental procedures.
  • Foster a culture of environmental responsibility across all departments.

Reporting & Site Support

  • Prepare compliance reports, incident documentation, and performance metrics.
  • Support engineering and maintenance teams with safe, sustainable practices.
  • Conduct site inspections and contribute to safe project execution.

Experience

  • Experience in environmental/sustainability management, ideally in aviation.
  • Strong knowledge of REACH, COSHH, COMAH, and ISO 14001.
  • Skilled in chemical safety, environmental audits, and sustainability reporting.

Qualifications And Competencies

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience managing direct reports and cross-functional collaboration.
