What to Expect

We are recruiting talented and driven Graduates to join our world-class Engineering team at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey. As an Engineering Graduate, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering the next generation of McLaren’s high-performance vehicles—pushing the boundaries of automotive innovation, performance, and quality.

This is a two-year rotational programme (4 x 6-month placements) designed to give you broad experience across McLaren’s Engineering function. You’ll work on real projects, alongside industry-leading engineers, developing your technical expertise, creativity, and leadership skills—preparing you for a future permanent role within McLaren Engineering.

What You'll Do

Through four diverse rotations, you will gain hands-on experience across McLaren’s Engineering teams, which include Vehicle Development, Design Engineering, Project Management, Propulsion, Chassis & Vehicle Technology, Body Engineering, and Electrical Systems & Controls.

You will contribute directly to the design, development, and validation of our supercars. Potential areas of focus include:

  • Supporting the design, analysis, and integration of components and systems into new and existing vehicle programmes.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate engineering concepts into production-ready solutions.
  • Assisting in prototype builds, testing, and data analysis to validate designs against performance, durability, and quality targets.
  • Using CAD and simulation tools to develop, model, and optimise components for weight, strength, and manufacturability.
  • Contributing to engineering change processes to implement design improvements.
  • Working with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet cost, quality, and timing requirements.
  • Supporting problem-solving activities for engineering issues during build and testing phases.
  • Participating in vehicle performance testing, capturing and analysing data to feed into engineering refinements.


Alongside your rotations, you’ll take part in professional development activities, innovation challenges, and knowledge-sharing sessions to sharpen your technical capability and leadership potential.


What You'll Bring

  • On track to achieve, or have achieved, a 2:1 or above in a relevant Engineering degree.
  • Passion for high-performance vehicle design, engineering, and innovation.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team.
  • Experience with CAD software, engineering analysis tools, or simulation packages is advantageous.


You must also bring a passion for cars, and a desire to work at the cutting edge of the automotive industry within our R&D business area
