Project Engineer (Electrical)
Role Overview
The Project Engineer – Electrical Engineering is a critical role responsible for managing the electrical engineering aspects of multi-disciplinary construction and renewable energy projects. This includes high-voltage (HV), low voltage (LV), protection and control (P&C), and commissioning systems. Functionally would be part of the technical services team, day to day you would be reporting directly to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will ensure that all electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
The role requires technical expertise in electrical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with design teams, contractors, and stakeholders.

Functionally would be part of the technical services team, day to day you would be reporting directly to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will ensure that all electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
The role requires technical expertise in electrical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with design teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Duties And Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on HV, LV, P&C, and commissioning systems for assigned projects.
- Review and interpret electrical design drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Collaborate with design teams to develop innovative and cost-effective electrical engineering solutions
- Support the Project Manager in planning and scheduling electrical works, including HV/LV installation, P&C integration, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of electrical works.
- Monitor progress against project schedules, identifying and addressing delays or risks.
- Oversee on-site electrical works to ensure assurance and compliance with design specifications, standards, and regulations.
- Conduct inspections and audits of electrical installations, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
- Address technical challenges on-site, providing solutions to maintain project momentum.
- Liaising with the Commissioning Manager, plan and execute commissioning activities for HV, LV, and P&C systems, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
- Co-ordinate the progressive assurance process through construction and testing, including HV/LV switchgear, protection relays, and control systems.
- Ensure all commissioning documentation is completed, including test certificates and handover records.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for electrical activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture among site teams and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical works, including progress reports, test results, and commissioning documentation.
- Prepare technical reports and updates for the Project Manager and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and company documentation requirements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies on electrical engineering matters.
- Represent the company at project meetings, providing updates on electrical progress and challenges.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to support project success.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project efficiency and costeffectiveness.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in HV, LV, P&C, and commissioning systems.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., IET membership, CEng status) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in electrical engineering roles within the construction, renewable energy, or utility sectors.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV systems, protection and control systems, and commissioning processes.
- Experience with site supervision and managing contractors for electrical installations.
- Technical expertise in HV/LV systems, protection relays, SCADA, and control systems.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

- Operational Efficiency: Ability to manage resources and deliver electrical works to high standards.
