The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is offering an exciting opportunity for a Year in Industry (YII) placement to join us in our dynamic and fast-paced environment for a minimum of 10 months within the 2024/25 academic year.
You can expect to assist with the daily duties of the team including taking enquiries, providing administrative support, checking and ordering stock, receiving and storing exhibits, and managing and resolving customer enquiries and requests for service in line with EMSOU-FS policy.

You can expect to assist with the daily duties of the team including taking enquiries, providing administrative support, checking and ordering stock, receiving and storing exhibits, and managing and resolving customer enquiries and requests for service in line with EMSOU-FS policy.
- Inputting and extracting data accurately from IT systems as required (recording of drugs intelligence data, recording of casework data etc.)
- Monitoring and responding to enquiries received via email or by telephone efficiently and professionally seeking advice as appropriate (submission queries, drugs queries etc.)
- Receiving and storing drugs exhibits whilst maintaining the continuity and integrity of the exhibits as well as organising and maintaining the secure drug storeroom.
- Supporting the Reporting Scientists by ensuring their casework exhibit continuity is maintained and any MG22b/MG11 reports are uploaded to Niche.
- Organising and prioritising workloads working as part of a team or with minimal supervision as the situation requires.
- To carry out any other duties reasonable commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post.
The must haves
- To be enrolled in an undergraduate degree, having successfully completed the first two years of study and with full support of your university for a placement / year in industry.
- Have an ability to problem solve, understanding issues, planning approaches and testing / recording results and inferences.
- Have high levels of creativity and flexibility in approach, with a strong sense of personal responsibility.

- Salary – Grade 2 - £24,222 – £26,106
- Due to MV/SC Vetting requirements, you must have a minimum of 5 years continuous residency in the UK to be eligible to apply.
