Job Opportunity: Domestic Assistant(Healthcare Cleaner)

Location: North Devon DistrictHospital

Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday,Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 0700-1330)

Pay Rate: £12.51 – £22.89 per hour

About The Role

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable DomesticAssistant(Healthcare Cleaner) to join our team at North Devon DistrictHospital. You will play a key role in ensuring patients, staff, and visitorsexperience a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and ad-hoc cleaning duties in line with national cleanliness standards and Trust policies.
  • Maintain a hygienic, safe patient environment, helping to minimise the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Empty and dispose of domestic and clinical waste according to infection prevention policies.
  • Replenish consumables (soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, etc.).
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely, following COSHH and PPE requirements.
  • Communicate courteously with patients, staff, and visitors, always providing a professional and caring service.
  • Work flexibly across different hospital areas when required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic role (healthcare setting desirable).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, respectful, and professional approach to patients and colleagues.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including moving equipment and light furniture.
  • High personal hygiene standards.

A satisfactory criminal record checkis required for this position.
