Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Coventry
Contract type: Full time
Our Values
In line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equity and respect remains at the heart of everything we do.
Our Values are:
Our ‘One Coventry’ plan is a powerful and inspiring statement of our vision and priorities for the city, rooted in residents’ priorities. We play a key role in improving our already flourishing city, and ensuring that Coventry continues to be a great place to live and work. We aim to be globally connected, locally committed, deliver our priorities with fewer resources whilst effectively managing our performance and measuring our progress.
This role will provide exceptional strategic leadership across a demanding and rewarding professional domain. If you’re looking for a setting where you can achieve more – from day one – we’d like to hear from you.
Our new Director for Planning and Performance will be responsible for driving the organisation forward, delivering business-critical evolution and helping to write the next chapter of Coventry’s story. It’s a new role, in which you’ll bring together the considerable resources and capacity of teams across the Council to achieve the full potential of our ‘One Coventry’ priorities. This will include performance reporting, service planning, transformation, insight, and design across the Council, putting residents at the heart of our programmes and service delivery. Place Based Integration and community resilience must underpin everything you do.
Candidates need extensive experience of delivering significant transformation programmes within complex organisations, and must be skilled at building and developing partnerships. An understanding of end-to-end redesign principles is essential, as is a track record of on-time delivery and managing large budgets. You will have overseen a broad range of commissioned services, contractors, and third-party suppliers, and will be a sophisticated and thoughtful manager of people, able to optimise motivation, performance, and capability at all levels.
