Director for Development and Regulation

Location: Dudley, West Midlands

Salary: Up to £130k

Shape Places Strengthen Regulation Lead with Purpose.

Dudley is undergoing transformation with major capital projects and bold regeneration plans. We seek a strategic Director for Development and Regulation to lead and modernise our built environment and regulatory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee development, acquisitions, disposals, and capital projects.
  • Ensure building safety compliance and construction oversight.
  • Manage technical and professional services, including surveyors and architects.
  • Handle property and facilities management across HRA and corporate estates.
  • Lead regulatory services such as trading standards, environmental health, food safety, licensing, private sector housing, building control, and more.
  • Administer Disabled Facilities Grants and statutory enforcement functions.
