The Digital Large Format Printer Operative is responsible for the setup, operation, and routine maintenance of large format digital printing equipment, including Fuji Film, Vutek, and Canon printers. Utilizing Caldera RIP software, the role ensures the accurate execution of print jobs to meet stringent quality standards and production timelines. The operative will play a key role in maintaining workflow efficiency and delivering high-quality printed materials in a fast-paced production environment.


The nature of our industry is that working ad hoc additional hours, or out of normal working hours, can be expected as a normal function of this role. Paid overtime, or time in lieu, is provided for this. The leadership team of Echo House remain committed to limiting the extent and potential impact of this, for all individuals at Echo.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:


CORE KNOWLEDGE BASE

  • Proficiency with Caldera RIP software
  • Ability to interpret production orders and technical specs
  • Experience operating large format digital printers

CORE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ensure correct materials (media, ink, substrates) are used for each job
  • Carry out routine machine cleaning and maintenance to prevent downtime
  • Follow all health, safety, and company procedures


MAIN DUTIES:

  • Operate and maintain large format digital printers (Fuji Film, Vutek, Canon)
  • Set up and manage print jobs using Caldera RIP software
  • Monitor output quality, adjust machine settings when necessary
  • Perform colour checks, alignment, and material handling
  • Collaborate with prepress and finishing teams to ensure smooth workflow
  • Maintain accurate records of print jobs and stock usage
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines, including working overtime when required
