Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Desktop Support Engineer to join our team. This role will be based at our Tewkesbury site but will also be responsible for supporting all UK Sites.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Desktop Support Engineer to join our IT team. Based out of our new Tewkesbury office, you will provide technical IT support to users across multiple sites in the local area. You will play a key role in resolving IT issues that have been logged in our IT Service Desk, ensuring system stability, and assisting with IT projects. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to work independently when visiting other locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support for hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems where necessary.
  • Diagnose and resolve incidents and service requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers.
  • Support and maintain Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and other enterprise applications.
  • Perform routine maintenance, and system updates.
  • Assist with IT projects, including deployments, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technical issues, resolutions, and procedures.
  • Adhere to IT security policies and ensure compliance with company standards.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a Desktop IT support role within a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Experience with networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with IT security principles and best practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workloads efficiently, and travel between sites as needed.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and service management best practices.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based solutions and remote working setups.
  • Any relevant IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco).
