Role Overview

As an IT Support Engineer you will support daily operations of a wide range of technology which supports all of our own employees. This role is the first line of support, to both in-person and remote users. You will be part of the Employee Technology team that provides technical assistance for the business and day-to-day IT issues. You will support and troubleshoot hardware equipment, including projectors, microphones, laptops and video conferencing. You will also support the cloud services our employees use and rely on, including Microsoft products. The IT Support must be proficient, organised, and passionate about learning new technologies and services. This is a busy role, which may involve occasional out of hours work to meet crucial deadlines or to support events.

  • Please note that we are looking for people who are happy working four days a week in our Southampton office, as this role will focus on supporting users in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Support different types of hardware:
    • Desktops, laptops, and high-performance workstations
    • Monitors, docking stations, and other peripherals
    • Mobile phones, MiFi devices, printers, and projectors
  • Support different types of software:
    • Microsoft 365
    • Atlassian Suite
    • Zoom
  • Record relevant information in the IT Service Desk system and the Asset Management system.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and uninstall software.
  • Support IT projects such as the rollout of new IT systems.
  • Liaise with 3rd parties for repair and support of PCs and printers.
  • Manage employee expectations

  • Technical proficiency:
    • A basic knowledge of PC hardware with experience of diagnosing problems
    • Experience with Microsoft operating
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications
    • Experience in supporting users
