DE&S Deca is a specialist part of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) tasked with supporting a vast range of Defence avionics, electronics and components to provide high-quality, cost-effective support to the UK Armed Forces. This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months.

Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with innovative ideas, looking to progress your career in Human Resources? This is a great opportunity to develop your recruitment and HR administration skills to provide support to the wider team!

You will be responsible for providing support for different aspects of HR such as recruitment, apprenticeship support and understanding/utilising our Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) as well as other systems. You will be trusted to provide timely and effective HR support, services and advice for one or more business areas or within an individual HR team.

We are a small team in HR and this will mean you could also have the opportunity to get involved in wider HR projects to develop your skills and understanding of HR teams.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive, and well-organised, with the ability to manage numerous tasks/projects individually and as part of the team. You will also be required to engage with various internal and external stakeholders/customers.

Interviews will take place face-to-face at MOD Sealand and will commence in the week commencing 24th February (please note this is subject to change).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide support to colleagues across areas of specialism, including communications and recruitment.
  • Manage and/or support sub elements of broader projects across HR.
  • Manage team members where required, advising, coaching and developing HR Assistants.
  • Respond to enquiries within relevant work area providing trusted guidance and advice in accordance with policy and process and providing a high level of customer service.
  • Support the development of and compliance with HR/People policies as required
  • Build a network of both internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Trade Unions for ER roles). Work in collaboration with the business ensuring alignment on objectives and delivery of plans/ projects.
  • Support the production of management information, undertaking analysis to drive delivery improvement within teams through identification of suitable interventions.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Previous background in administration with an understanding of recruitment processes and confidence in relaying clear and concise information
  • Willingness to learn processes and procedures to be able to provide detailed information to stakeholders and clients
  • Basic Microsoft office experience
  • CIPD qualification or relevant experience in an HR environment
