Deputy Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic registered practitioner (NMC or HCPC), who is already working as a Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) to join the Cheshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre based at Leighton Hospital in the role of Deputy Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner.

The Deputy Lead SSP will support the existing Lead SSP, Clinical Nurse Manager, Clinical Director and Lead Administrator with the management and development of the screening programme, they will also join an established team of SSP's and screening administrators. As such they should have completed the post graduate SSP certification and have experience of managing and supervising staff.

Although the programme offices are based at Leighton Hospital the clinical team cover the whole of Cheshire and as Deputy Lead you would be expected to travel to support the programme at a variety of sites.

We are a busy service and have just completed the final stage of age extension to provide screening to all 50-60 year olds, registered with a GP across Cheshire.

The Deputy Lead SSP for the Cheshire BCSP will be responsible for, in liaison with the Lead SSP, the training and development of the SSPs to ensure the provision of specialist, expert knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives.

The post holder will be able to prioritise their own workload, able to work independently and as part of a multi-professional team, communicate effectively at all levels, influence change and contribute to the further development of the Cheshire BCSP.

The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly with potential for evening and weekend shifts as the service expands.
