We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Clinical Safety Officer to join the UHS Digital team, to work closely with our team of Clinical Safety Officers delivering clinical risk management in the implementation of digital systems across the Trust.
You will be a practising clinician with a senior position within the Trust and current professional registration. You will have in depth knowledge of digital clinical systems within a healthcare environment and their impacts on patient safety.

- Work closely with UHS CSO, CCIO(s), CNIO and CIO to lead on clinical risk management across the Trust.
- Provide guidance, expert advice and support to UHS Digital and the wider Trust with regards to digital clinical risk management practice and processes.
- Support clinical risk management activities, including the identification, analysis, evaluation and mitigation of clinical risks during system development, implementation, modification or decommissioning. These activities will be undertaken in a structured manner and result in the output of clinical risk management documentation.
- Support the CSO to establish, maintain and refine a coherent and comprehensive set of robust business processes to identify and address patient safety risks associated with digital systems/applications.
- Practising clinician with a senior position within the organisation and current professional registration such as GMC or NMC.
- Experience of using digital clinical systems including electronic patient records.
- In depth knowledge of digital healthcare systems/applications, human factors and their contribution and control in the context of patient harm.
- Previous experience of risk management/clinical safety.
- Already hold/willing to undertake Clinical Safety Officer accreditation within 12 months.
Qualifications

- Practising clinical with a senior position within the organisation and current professional registration such as GMC or NMC
- Evidence of continued professional and educational development with evidence of training and qualifications in a relevant health discipline.
- Master’s or equivalent experience
- Willing to achieve a clinical safety qualification within 12 months of appointment to the post.
- Clinical safety qualification.
Essential criteria
- Experience at a senior level in healthcare setting. Clinically competent and credible with frontline staff and senior multi-disciplinary colleagues.
- Experience of using digital clinical systems including electronic patient records.
- Previous experience of risk management/clinical safety.
- In depth knowledge of digital healthcare systems/applications, human factors and their contribution and control in the context of patient harm.
- Knowledge of clinical pathways across the Trust.
- Facilitation of multi-professional groups.
- Presenting and communicating to large groups.
- Experience of working autonomously and self-starter.
- Highly developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to network and build relationships at all levels, including interpersonal skills, liaison and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyse and interpret technical, sensitive or contentious information and present this to a variety of audiences.
- Experience working in a Clinical Safety role.
- Experience of successfully leading change.
- Knowledge of the application of tools, techniques and skills required to use and maintain a Clinical Risk Management System.
- In depth understanding of the various digital clinical systems in use across UHS
