The post holder will be an experienced Midwife who is dynamic, accessible and a responsive leader. Who is able to provide effective compassionate leadership skills, clinical expertise and advice to the Maternity team they will manage. They will be expected to ensure the provision of a high quality service to the women/person and their families in line with best practice, local, regional and national guidance. To Carry out responsibility and accountability on a shift basis, both managerially and professionally for the management of the Delivery suite, including the effective development and supervision of staff with regard to skill mix and dependency of care. Toe encourage and support midwives to engage philosophy and principles of the midwifery agenda thus promoting normal birth. Post holder will be expected to contribute to setting standards, audit, research, infection control and risk management.

Provide effective leadership, providing professional standards. Be visible and accessible in the clinical area for service users, relatives, and staff. Carry responsibility and accountability on a shift basis, both managerially and professionally. Carry out the duties of a Midwife as directed by the NMC Code of Professional Practice and Code of Professional Conduct & within trust guidance. Maintain high quality professional standard, positive culture, safe and high quality care towards all service users and staff, ensuring the philosophy of individualised and personalised care is upheld and an effective working environment is maintained. Lead by example,act as a positive role model to staff taking responsibility for own professional development.To confidently escalate in a timely manner concerns about patient safety,quality and experience, offering solutions and evidence-based recommendations. To contribute to a culture that recognises and works in partnership with service users and their families, involving them in all decisions. To ensure that national, regional and local policy and guidance are delivered and maintained. Foster a culture which encourages staff to challenge and report substandard practice. Contribute to the Ward accreditation programme. Contribute to and participate in audit. Awareness and participation in trust policies on safeguarding which will include regular updating with regard to detection and reporting of child protection incidents.
