DAC Secretary

The Church of England

Date: 11 hours ago
City: Bury
Contract type: Full time
Manchester Diocese is looking to appoint a DAC Secretary to support our parishes as they care for and develop their church buildings. The diocese has over 300 churches, ranging from historic listed buildings to more modern places of worship. We are seeking a highly organised person with a strong understanding of policy and compliance to support the clergy and parish volunteers at the heart of our diocese. This role involves providing guidance on the care of church buildings and churchyards, faculty jurisdiction, and faculty applications.

We are looking for someone who has a background in planning or policy functions, with experience in servicing formal committees. The post-holder will be the main point of contact for parishes navigating jurisdiction relating to church buildings and the faculty application process. They should be an excellent communicator with the ability to deliver difficult messages with patience, whilst managing competing demands and working to deadlines.

The DAC Secretary should have the ability to work within compliance frameworks and will be able to provide advice to parishes accordingly. Prior knowledge of Church of England structures is not essential, but an interest in church buildings will help candidates to gain a better understanding of the role.

Manchester Diocese is a vibrant, dynamic and creative community, and an appreciation of its diversity is essential. Whilst the postholder is not required to be a practising Christian, they should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Church of England.

Closing date: Tuesday, 28 October 2025

Interviews: w/c Monday, 10 November 2025
