The Cyber Security Manager position is a ‘working manager’ role, with a specialist emphasis in cyber security, working as part of the UK information, protection and security (IPS) department. This role will manage a team of cyber security analysts. The role and team will apply cyber security concepts, knowledge, and skills to support a comprehensive cyber security program. This program evaluates and monitors the current state of cyber security and risk across the organization.

This role will manage a team of cyber security analysts. The role and team will apply cyber security concepts, knowledge, and skills to support a comprehensive cyber security program. This program evaluates and monitors the current state of cyber security and risk across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Protect the business from cyber threats through analysis, risk management, and strategic decision-making that balances risk with operational and economic costs.
- Identify and mitigate cyber risks in all technology systems.
- Upgrade or design security systems, continuously test and evaluate platforms, and simulate breaches to test controls.
- Ensure compliance with international and national network security standards, regulatory requirements, and audit issues.
- Perform activities to provide periodic risk reporting including assessment findings and recommendations for improvement
- Coordinate disaster recovery, incident follow-up, and corrective actions in the event of security breaches.
- Develop and implement security plans, policies, and risk reports, while fostering information security awareness across the organization.
- Monitor internal control systems to ensure appropriate access levels are maintained.
- Ensure contingency planning, business continuity, and IT disaster recovery are in place.
- Security Technologies / Methodologies including anti malware, firewalls, email and web filtering
- Knowledge of networking and penetration testing
- Must have working knowledge industry standard risk management frameworks, preferably CyberEssentials and ISO27001
- Knowledge of NIST CSF, Data Protection Act, GDPR and Data Protection Bill
- Experience with Information Governance, regulatory, or compliance responsibilities
- Experience of carrying out privacy and risk surveys/audits
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
