To work for Synectics you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any exceptions to that clearance. Synectics will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of the work the business conducts, you must hold a UK nationality or meet the 5-year minimum residency criteria.

About The Role

What will you do?

The role will require strong technical knowledge and knowledge of the company infrastructure, education and/or experience in an Cyber Security related background along with detailed knowledge of Cyber Security related techniques and technologies, strong all-round IT and Security knowledge across all technologies and processes. The position also provides an opportunity to work in a quickly expanding Security Engineering.

This role will require out of hours support on a rota basis (1 week in 5). 

Duties will include:

  • Active threat tracking (global & internal relation)
    • Keep dictionary of security trends and global security considerations
    • Relate all to internal systems on a technical level (have we got active protection and detection capabilities)
    • Evaluation and management of global threats.
    • Informed on the dangers posed by generative AI both as a weapon for attackers and a DLP risk for the business.
  • Management of the Cyber Security department toolset
    • Web Proxy
    • Offline Virus scanning system
    • Forensic toolkit
    • SIEM
    • Logging solutions
    • Automation Scripts
    • EDR
    • DLP
  • Risk assessment/management of software, processes and projects within the business.
  • Perform testing of Cyber Security processes and tools.
  • Manage and update the policies relating to the email gateway.
  • Handle all alerts generated by DLP systems.
  • Perform dynamic and static analysis of potential malware obtained from USB drives, emails and web downloads using our offline malware analysis suite.
  • Provide a point of contact for SOC for management and technical changes.
  • Respond to alerts generated by the SOC in a timely manner providing relevant information back to our provider.
  • Work with a wider team of security professionals delivering services to teams across Synectics Solutions IT functions and business areas to support compliance with Synectics Solutions’ IT Security Policy Framework.
  • Provide a technical point of contact for security related queries from all areas of the business.
  • Provide secure consultation for Cloud implementation projects.
  • Provide user based training and secure configuration of generative AI tools.

What will you need?

  • A genuine interest and enthusiasm for Cyber Security.
  • A background in either Cyber Security or Information Technology.
  • A background including experience in security tools and processes:
    • Web Proxy management
    • Incident Management
    • Forensic Security
    • File Transfer (SFTP)
    • Anti-Virus Systems (Microsoft)
    • Email Gateways & DLP systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to identify, analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
  • The ability to proactively investigate malware and other security related issues.
  • Keen eye to keep dictionary of security trends and global security considerations.
  • Experience in a Cyber Security Role and Cyber Security Qualifications preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work both proactively and reactively.
  • You should ideally have some experience in the following:
  • Automation scripts (PowerShell/Python)
  • Softcard Management
  • Secure Cloud Configuration
